Editing allowed me so much creative freedom and experiences with a variety amount of tools. I used a simple program in Macs called imovie, although I have worked with Final Cut. I collected over 200 photos and over 3 hours of footage. I also worked with a typography program for a part from the gathered information in the clip. The photos were taken at famers markets, UCF arboretum, my grandparents garden, and of our own gardens. The footage for the film was taken between me and another partner; footage was taken at UCF Campus, grocery stores, and the arboretum. I downloaded the music from a free background music website and compiled that with the voice recording from the same partner. Working the music and recording into the film was all about timing and pizazz. Please take a look at the final clip below.

Researching permaculture was a task itself. None of us really knew what permaculture was or what made permaculture so special. Researching has made my passion for gardening even more strong and want to work harder in our community for a more sustainable future. I used articles, data, statistics, films, and books, and personal experience as my resources. I also complied a SWOT Analysis and Empathy Map to understand our target audience and help us understand our objective more. Please click buttons below to view analysis and map.

Working with this group was a privilege. We all had interests in plants and the desire to learn more about permaculture. It really was a very beneficial group to build a company’s media points. We all had strengths—mine was film. We challenged each other and grew from ideas. I felt I gave a great deal of creativity to the team and am a valued member.

Gardening was very useful in the research portion. We realized there are inexpensive ways to start an urban garden. Gardening also got me talking about it more when people came over and asked what I was growing…(minds, I would say). But growing a garden has made me more confident to talk about permaculture and help create a more sustainable future.
